I was involved in a production of Lysistrata earlier this year, and the cast is having a get-together for the holidays. I’m short on time to make anything new, but I’ll be wearing Burda’s Bow Neck Blouse 10/2010 #118B that I made with red poplin—it always makes me feel gift-wrapped and festive!

I have several holiday parties to attend. 1st party is a Union Christmas party (which is next week). I am making a pair of sequins pants and a cute top. The 2nd party is a unit party which is casual. Lastly, is family gatherings. I plan on using a jacket and pants pattern that I purchased from Burda.

This is what I’d like to win for my mother. She’s only 95-years-young, and I think she’d make some spry outfits! She understands digits and style.

This past weekend we drove to an annual Christmas Antique fair and I picked up some ornaments from the 50’s. Then went and picked our Christmas tree. This week we are driving to the Berkshires to enjoy the scenery. Next I am hosting a day for individuals who suffer from addiction as the Holidays can be rough for people. One of my friends is flying in to speak and we will spend two days visiting in NYC. Then all of the children will start arriving for a lovely 5 days over the Holiday weekend. I am so excited to spend time with them. We play games and just enjoy each other’s company.

We’re finding it to be a little less fun creating Christmas magic at home now that we are [recent] empty nesters. But, last night we decided to create a new holiday tradition—just for us! Next weekend —the Second Weekend in December (sounds like an official tradition already!), we will be driving to a destination we’ve not been to before, securing a room at a hotel or lodge for a long weekend, and treating one another to a romantic getaway! We will explore whatever’s nearby during the day, and hope to find delicious, romantic restaurants for our dinners. I hope to find time to make the “Wrap Maxi Skirt 03/2017 #102A” and/or the “Double Breasted Blazer 12/2016 #101” before we leave! I’ve been pining for each of those since they were featured and the fabric for both is already in the stash!
