I plan to incorporate fashions from the past, more calicos and plaids. I’m a new sewer on a budget so I have been thrift shopping for materials.

No, I’m not deliberately incorporating any trends…though the PJs I made for my husband and am making for the rest of us, too, are Star Wars themed! That’s a trend, right? :)

With our budget being beyond tight this year I am going to upcycle few things from our wardrobe to make them more Christmasy and festive.

I need to make a new tree skirt. It will either get done or I will get one at the dollar store this year. Either way…it’s covered.

I would love to work with more metallic fabrics, but I do try to stay away from very trendy things. I like my styles to last, especially if I am taking the time to make them.

I’m making some new dresses for a new job! I start next week! I want to have some fun with the collars – including bows and tab collars, and with the sleeves – including bells and puffed sleeves.

Not really new, but new enough for me. I would like to try making jumpsuits…of course with holiday themed fabric or something with ruffles/lace. For others, I would love trying to make little felt ornaments like reindeers, elves, Christmas tree, gingerbread men etc.

I hope this isn’t double posting, but I don’t think my first one actually worked. I added a cute pleated cuff to the sleeves on a new shirt for me. I also am almost finished a cute shirt dress with a curved hem for an 18" doll; hopefully I’ll be able to source the material for coordinating tights.
