Make the most of gem toned chiffons and silks in five dresses and two full outfits. These festive patterns are from the December 2013 issue of Burda Style magazine.

Chiffon and satin get the fairy tale treatment in this romantic evening dress. A pointed bodice emphasizes the deep V neckline and fluttery skirt. Ties at the sleeve cuffs finish off this delicate piece.

A pointed hip yoke and box pleat skirt make this architectural Dress stand out. This proper princess style is mature and original, perfect for understated elegance at a cocktail or office party. It would also look lovely without sleeves!

A high waisted Pant with the side seams moved slightly to the front elongates your legs for a slimming fit. These pants have front pockets and a zip fly closure. The voluminous silhouette looks lovely in a bold print.

A sophisticated Kimono Jacket turns any outfit into a bold statement. Matelassé has enough body to make the deep set in sleeves and shawl collar really pop.

Flirt the night away in this sassy little party ensemble. The stretch duchesse Part Dress underneath hugs every curve, and you can layer this sleeveless Organza Overdress on top for a romantic princess look.

Washed satin gives the Waterfall Dress beautiful drape. This is a great choice for hosting a dinner party, and you won’t have to worry about a wrap or sweater with the elegant long sleeves.

Dress up this classic Pencil Skirt pattern with an iridescent fabric with some body, like matelassé. This design has a structured waistband and a little slit at the back.

A draped cowl neckline is so soft and pretty that no one will know this is your most comfortable top! Soft stretch jersey flows nicely in this casual but feminine top.

This collection has an easy elegance that goes seamlessly from the office to a holiday party. Hosting the prefect cocktail hour can be stressful, but at least you’ll know you’re dressed beautifully.

Happy sewing!

To tika1210: I love the mustard gold dress (yes, not green) and it would look great done in a color block (preferably not mustard gold).

So I am thinking that the mustard coloured dress looks very good indeed and is a pattern I will buy only I am a little confused because from where I come from that isn’t emerald. The phone is green the dress is not.

I look forward to the cooler weather starting so I can sew some of these up. The cowl top will be first of the blocks, then perhaps the waterfall dress… lovely collection!
