It’s very full on but as I pretty much embellish everything I make, I would have to say doing wedding dresses are my favourite. I love to find a unique lace, (dye it is necessary) and then clip and bead with crystals to create encrusted but delicate layers then I drape silk and chiffon around them so you have this stunning peak-a-boo effect. It’s a great way of drawing attention to the parts you want to show off!

I like to embellish hem lines on skirts . They had a bit of surpise to a predictable pattern.

I love embellinshing on wool felt. I use roven, wool yarn and scrap fabric pieces. I used my last piece of felted fabric to make a cell phone pouch. Very soft fabric!

I am still a novice but love to sew and learn new things every time I make a new garment. A book like this would be extremely helpful as I continue my self-taught sewing :). As a novice I am still learning about embellishing but do love to try out my skills on shirts.

I never knew that there was such a thing as applique paper so I’ve just learned how to applique and find it so much fun. So far my favorite design is an owl so I’ve placed it on a tote bag and a smaller version for a small zip pouch. My next project may be to try a flower applique on a mini corduory skirt.

I love to embellish tops and shirts. I like quite simple lines and styles, so adding embellishment gives a little something extra and makes the clothes unique. I usually add distinctive buttons, cute bows, or some ribbon or lace.

I’ve been making more time for myself to get back into garment making lately, and have enjoyed creating a top from butterfly fabric, then stiffening some of the butterflies and sewing them onto the top….making it ‘self fabric/multidimensional’ I suppose. I am also looking forward to exploring further embellishments by ways of technique (cutting, folding etc) to create interest and embellishment, as opposed to stitching on other materials.
