[Update 11/1/2011] – Congratulations to the winners of this contest, Tallaslint and rdejam!

Comment for your chance to win one of two $50 gift certificates to Britex Fabrics’ amazing online store!

BritexFabrics.com offers a stunning array of fabrics, buttons, ribbons and lace trims, and more and is the Internet home of brick-and-mortar store Britex Fabrics, a must-visit for any sewer or crafter in the San Francisco-area since 1952! We love their products, and were so excited to use their fabric, lining and vintage buttons for our Turquoise Tweed Cape project.

Until Tuesday, November 1st, you have an opportunity to win one of two $50 gift certificates.

To enter, answer the following question: What kind of fabrics would you like to see Britex Fabrics selling online? Two winners will be selected.

Good Luck!

What an amazing site, I live in an outpost of Northern Michigan, and already have to buy all of my “good” fabric online, so “growing” their site for people like us who live Off the Fabric grid would be fantastic! Still, what they do have is AWESOME, I just am being a woman…More fabric please….

I agree with an earlier reply from Ludosti: organic/eco-textiles, badly needed and not easy to get! And fair-trade fabrics.

I also would love to see some natural fiber jerseys-wool especially, since I am in the Midwest! Although, they have such beautiful things already…it is definitely a site to daydream over.

Oh, I don’t know. In poking around their site, they have lots of beautiful fabrics, I could easily spend more than $50 there ;). Some nice jersey might be a nice addition, I didn’t notice any.

I would like to see knits and linens and even more silk prints. I haven’t been to the store but there are some beautiful fabrics online.

I have checked out their site and I have to say that what I love is their array of buttons, they come in every color, style, and material. I wish to see the same in fabrics. I’m in Texas where it’s mostly hot most of the time, especially this year. My interest in fabrics is going to be in the cottons just to help keep cool but what’s available, whether it’s the lightweights, mid weights, etc., it is very limiting. I want to see more colors, solids, and since it’s online, it should not be limited to the colors of the season. I don’t know about you but I like to sew outfits for not just the now to wear but also to plan for the next season even if it’s winter now and I want to make something for the summer. I will say this I will be buying more buttons here…love the glass and novelty selections that are there. Again wish they had some of those colors in the glass buttons also reflected in the fabrics.

I’d love to see silk jerseys/knits – preferably prints – and wool jerseys. These are lux fabrics that I find hard to find and would love to use in many of my projects.

More options on patterns would be helpful, as to be able to look at patterned cotton (such as florals, dots) in categories.

I very much miss the Britex live store… Made some of my best coats from their remnants. I’ve always thought they have the best wools, and that’s what I’d like to see most online.

I;d like to see you add some lightweight wool in vibrant colors and patterns. I’d also love to see fabric from Earthspun. I have some t-shirts and would love, love, love to sew with it.

It seems a shame to ask for anything considering the lovely selection already, but since you asked I would suggest some silk or wool jerseys or perhaps a larger selection of stretch fabrics since we are so spoiled by having a touch of lycra in almost everything nowadays.

I’d like to see the same type of wonderful selection that the SF store is known for! That said, I’ve always admired Britex wool fabrics and it’s great to have an online option with such great quality.

Fur! I love natural looking fur. I wish they could have a large selection of faux fur in brown, black, and white. I like the ones that are fluffy and don’t induce sweating within seconds, like the course hair ones.

I’d love see Britex sell voile, it’s so elegant, yet the variety of prints in fabric shops is always limited
