Skirts, dresses, and jackets inspired by the football field and soda fountain. Head back to school in style! These designs are from the September issue of Burda Style magazine.

This thoroughly modern Peplum Top has a narrow split neckline, mini peplum skirt, and cute button cuffs. It’s an ultra feminine mix of styles to wear with skinny jeans or skirts.

Wear this adorable Button Down Retro Dress to your favorite burger joint or soda fountain. It’s fitted at the waist with a V neckline, button front, and retro flared skirt. You’re ready for the sock hop!

An American classic. This traditional Letterman Jacket has ribbing at the waistband, collar, and cuffs, slash pockets, and that perfect letter applique at the chest. This jacket works for ladies, too!

You’ll feel like the head cheerleader in this sectioned V Neck Tee with contrast trim and a deep V neckline. It’s cute and sporty like a baseball tee.

A sleek and modern city Split Neck Dress with low hip pockets, a split neckline, and cool seam detailing at the waist. This piece is mod and slimming.

This take on a schoolgirl Mini Skirt has a pretty flounce instead of pleats. It hugs your waist and flares out at the hips for a twirly, feminine silhouette. Make it in classic plaid!

Lead the pack in a short Plaid Jacket with patent leather trim. It’s a fun and feminine alternative to blousy bomber jackets.

The College Sweatshirt is your wear-everywhere winter staple. Color block this easy pullover in your school colors, or make it pop with an argyle plaid and solid color sleeves. So cozy.

Snuggle up in this fall Jacket with a fitted hood, elastic cuffs, and a drawstring waist. It has that tomboy style and feminine fit that works with casual skirts or boyfriend jeans. Boucle makes it warm and cozy.

You don’t have to be a student to look smart in these plaid classics. Start your school year right with a little Americana and fun retro patterns.

Happy sewing!

I like the split neck peplum. A peplum I would actually consider. Are those detachable cuffs, weird?

I didn’t even realize those cuffs were detachable until you pointed it out. It is strange. I wonder if it adds a fashion element to the piece?
