In this weekend’s paper, there was an article about “bringing beautiful back into your home”. Since I absolutely despise ironing, you will never see crisp, pressed sheets gracing my bed (not even the pillowcases). However, one suggestion I can live with is using cloth napkins. Not only is it ‘green’, but it really does add a touch of elegance to any meal – maybe I could even get the kids to use theirs for a change!

There’s lots of tutorials out there for making your own, but here’s just a few to get you started today: For the simplest of napkins, try this tutorial from instructables, however if you’re looking for a slightly more ‘dressed-up’ version with mitered corners hop over to BurdaStyle’s tutorial. Don’t have time to sew, but want to add a bit of cloth to your table? Then try out Make Stuff Happen – theirs can be made in 5 minutes! My favorite of all tutorials has to be from The Purl Bee. Not only do you sew up a beautiful tableware, but lean how to make binding as well!
