This new pattern collection from burda style magazine’s May 2013 issue is simply summer fresh! These styles are delicate, gentle – and first and foremost white. Lots of lace and neon accessories add that special accent.

When the heat hits, this Dress that floats around the knee is just right. It’s fitted cut with corset-style midriff suits all women, while the short sleeves and gathered skirt let air get into the skin. It is closed by a zip at the back and a pretty embroidered border decorates the hem. And when temperatures drop, just reach for a cardigan to keep you warm.

This delicate, ankle-length Dress with low waist and stitched-on piqué bands is reminiscent of a ballerina’s dance dress. With its slim silhouette it suits a variety of body types particularly well.

The hammock feeling is typical of summer, as is this light Jacket of knit lace that you can wear over your bikini. Th edge to edge ball button fastening, waist seam, and gathered peplum are all sweet details. Pair it with jeans and a top to create a cute street look.

The color of innocence? We know better. In this sheath Dress of cotton poplin you’ll make a big impression, in the office or on an evening out. The lace trim at the waist adds a touch of sophistication. It’s stitched on by hand.

This is perfect for women with shoulders to show off! The fine bandeau Top conceals the tummy, and looks great with shorts and jeans, thanks to its gathered lower section. A shirred panel at the back gives it support.

The sun is high in the sky and the nights are warm for this batiste “Dress”:, the essence of romance thanks to its lace and decorative buttons. The skirt, which floats loosely below the bodice, hides the problem areas as well.

Happy Sewing!

I am currently making a dress very much like the cotton poplin sheath dress. I love all the white together.

Loving this collection! A great model and great styling (and that hammock… Swoon!) show off the patterns – a nice change from the camouflaged, heavy-handed “styling” I’ve come to associate with most of Burda’s collections. The pieces are both timeless and timely, and IMHO, the collection is simultaneously cohesive and extremely versatile. While I agree that we’ve seen similar silhouettes before, the details of the Corset Dress, the knit top, the long banded dress and even the simple strapless top make them feel fresh and wearable. I’m happy to see the long dress sized for tall women – they would ROCK this dress, and it’s awesome that the pattern is already sized for them…and as someone who always has to figure out how to chop 3-4" OFF a bodice block, I’m sure the many women on the opposing end of the spectrum appreciate the gesture :-)

I feel like I’ve seen all these patterns before. Some cute but very simple designs.

I really like the Corset-Style Dress and the Knit Lace Jacket! The model and the photos are beautiful and the vibe is very fresh :)

The long dress will do no favors for anyone unless they are 6ft tall and a size 0. The other patterns are quite nice.

Love all these new patterns, and so happy to see a “normal” sized woman at last :) Very flattering patterns, can’t wait to finish up my exams and get stuck in!
