Is a stitch used to achieve fullness and/or give curvature to seam. There are two ways you can shirr; one is by using loose medium length hand stitch leaving a long tail at the one end and knotting it at the other, then pulling to desired fullness/curve and length.
The other way is by using a #2.5 straight stitch on the machine while placing your index finger behind the presser foot of the machine, and leaving long tails at both ends and then pulling etc.
