Rayon is the first non-synthetic “manufactured” fiber. It has been referred to as “artificial silk” due to its luxurious sheen and luster. It is used as fabric, thread, and yarn.
Made from regenerated cellulose fibers, that is chemically altered plant fiber, it takes on properties similar to cotton and linen. It can also be made to look like wool. Dry cleaning this fiber is highly recommended.
It is not a natural fiber nor it is not a synthetic, rayon is a hybrid. Basically, recycled fiber lint is chemically treated then re-manufactured similar to synthetic fibers.
