Embroidery with backing/stabilizers
Embroidering without backing is not recommended because these practical aids really do help! They prevent the fabric being overloaded, especially if you have a high stitch speed or closely placed stitches. On fabrics with a pile, like towelling, they prevent the embroidery sinking in and thus make the stitching clearer. Your choice of embroidery backing/stabilizer will depend on the materials you use for your embroidery.
