This photo shows you a close up of the texture of the interfacing, the flash on the camera actually makes it easier to see than with normal lighting. It is definately a knit interfacing, which gives the wool some structure, but still gives it lots of movement and flexibility. For a lighter material you may need a woven interfacing cut on the bias to get a similar effect. Here you can also see that there was iron-on tape added to the facing/lining seam, it is the only place in the coat besides the underarm where this is done.
