A little bag that you can get done in an evening and is perfect for new sewers. This is the first bag that I came up with on my own, and depending on how you deck it out it could have many different uses. (makeup bag, coin purse, clutch, etc.) Let me know if anything is confusing!

Technique Materials

Coodinating fabric for outer and lining of bag, interfacing (optional), thread, button

I love it but am just a tiny bit confused. Do i put the 2 rectangles right sides facing or wrong sides? I know you then fold it right sides facing to sew the sides but just not sure bout the first step. I started one but it looked wrong halfway through so will unstitch it and wait for clarification. Thanks

really a nice little pocket …
an alternative to the cut in the lining:
you can leave a little space open, when you sew in the lining, you can turn the hole thing trough this hole – close the hole while sewing the scallop for the button in … so its (a little) invisible

Thank you sooooooo much for this “how to”. Its the first thing I’ve sewed in 11 years and the instructions were so clear, it turned out really great. Cant wait to see what else you will add to Burdastyle!

Great variation on a normal tote pattern with the change of size and added pleats! Your directions make the process really clear. I’m looking forward to making it with the addition of machine embroidery. Thank you!

I loved making this bag!! And it was so easy to make it was practically relaxing! I made two versions, first a 15×10 in to which I ended up adding a lil’ chain to carry it around, and then a bigger one to which I added handles and a base to keep the shape. (My not-so-itty-bitty bag)

So cute! Although when I make one I think I will put a zipper closure on as well as the button as I’m so paranoid about losing my stuff! :) Great how to!

Thanks – this looks easy and straight forward. Also a great way to use up odd bits of fabric. Good clear instructions!
