Turn the pocket so that the pocket pieces are right sides facing and inside the garment and the welt is on the outside (with the folded edge at the top of the pocket). Press so that everything lays nice and flat. Sew around the outside of the pocket bag (use a zigzag stitch or serger for durability). Fold the small triangles that you cut into the garment fabric to the inside of the pocket. Edge stitch the sides of the welt to the garment making sure to catch the small triangles.

I could not understand the instructions that Burda gave for the single welt pocket for my pants. I followed your tutorial and they came out great. Thank you for taking the time to post it.

Thank-you I am working on a pair of Burda pants and this is easier to understand than the directions they give.

A million thanks for this!!! I had to do those on a Burda Style magazine pattern and the directions only came in words, no illustrations. My head started smoking reading through those, but alas, I found your directions and suddenly it was SO simple!!! Thanks again!

Wow, hugely helpful! I need to make these on a Burda magazine coat pattern and could NOT figure out the directions for the life of me. It’s hard to find directions for the single welt pocket, I’m afraid…
