One pattern to make a standard lolita-style jumperskirt dress (JSK) from the basic bodice block here on burdastyle! This version has back shirring which should eliminate the need for a zipper. There are at present no instructions on how to put it together and no instructions on how to do the shirring (although this pattern is intended to be used with the channel shirring method, not elastic thread), so I don't recommend it for beginners.
Basic bodice block, printed, taped together, and cut to your size. 2.5 to 3m of fabric. Cottons and cotton blends are recommended for a first project, but velveteen and wool/wool blends are seen in this style too. 1m lining (if you only want to line the bodice) 2.5m (if you want to line the entire dress) 0.5m medium weight interfacing (optional) Narrow elastic (1/4", 6mm, 5mm) All the normal sewing addendums--thread, scissors, needles, pins, potentially a sewing machine
