Once past the quarter inch, increase the stitch length to the usual setting and continue to sew the seam. When about a quarter inch from the end, repeat the process. Reduce the stitch length to the 1.0 cm. setting and sew off the end of the seam.
No bunching, puckering or knotting at the ends. Just a nice clean, smooth seam with just enough hold to keep the seam locked.
