    Thanks!

My three year old asked for pockets in the nightgown/costume I am making for her. And I was able to make them easily! I even made French seams on the side seams with the pockets. (I don’t have a serger and I dislike zigzagged edges)

’Just accomplished in-seam pockets on the Shari!! It works!! (Saving my “pocket pattern” forever, though!)

I’m not usually this free with the exclaimation points!

The seam allowance is 5/8" so its easy to line up when placing the pocket, but sewn at 3/8" so that the pocket is pulled to the inside when finished. Its not necessary, but I think it is easier.

When I was little, 50 years ago, my mom always put “secret pockets” in my dresses.

one question … why did you only sew the seam allowancce at 3/8 when you drafted the pattern with a 5/8 seam allowance? or am i mistaken?

Katrena- I didn’t notice them until now, but good job! I guess not noticing them is a good thing, since they’re inseam pockets!
And thanks to everyone else- I’m glad this How To is helpful and easy to understand!

great how-to, also as idea-generator: I’ll put in an in-seam pocket in my Zoe-in-process, perfect for taking with me my badge & money to luch at the office.
