The Saddle Stitch is a decorative stitch, often seen on men’s jackets, but you could use it as a design element many places. I’ve been envisioning it on the Paola dress. The Saddle Stitch is basically a basting stitch, but done very carefully and with a contrasting topstitching/buttonhole/coat thread for visibility. Perfect decorative hand-stitching is a bit of a challenge for me, so I’ve devised a good cheat to get beautiful results, as I show you here.
