Do you cut out the pieces when you’re done putting them together??

I’m not too sure either if the test square prints at a different size?

Note: 10.0 cm = 3.94 in (or 3 15/16 in) so don’t expect the test square to print out at exactly 4"

Thanks fossana,
I’ve been tearing my hair out for the last few days but my square is exactly 10 cm.

I printed out my test square, and adjusted the Scale % … the square is now spot on in one direction, and about 1/32 inch (approximately a millimeter) short in the other.
Is this close enough, or should I try again?

I got it. I kept trying to adjust the percentage of the scale in my printer’s properties, but that only made it worse. Then I saw an option, “shrink large pages”. I tried that and it’s perfect.

Can someone explain how to adjust the scale of the print? My test square is a little larger than 4 inches. Thanks.

Awesome! This will help me understand how to sew according to patterns ;P (not my strong side) Thanks!

I am trying to open the pattern and for some reason, my software on the computer wont let me encode the pattern. It just comes out it Chinese or something. Can you please help? Do I need a certain software to open the patterns?

To save paper, time, ink & electricity, I would recommend that you first print ONLY the test square of the pattern to make sure it’s correct… I did this by browsing through the PDF file and finding the test square … e.g. on the Anda Dress pattern it’s on page 12… if the test square is not correct you can adjust the scaling of the print.

this is really helpful. i found that using a scrapbooker’s paper cutter makes the cutting and assembly go much faster. they can be found at any craft store and are pretty cheap!

My test square isn’t measuring up…. How do I set it to be 4"???
Apr 25, 2008, 03.26 AMby admin
I set my printer overview 100%—that would come out correct! and the TEST SQUARE will exactly size 10cm.

I’m new and completely clueless. How do I even get the pattern I want? What do I click on? I want the pattern for the “Yoshimi Hand Warmer”. I’m sure I’ll know how to print the pattern once I learn how to download the thing.

yes, what if the square has a differnet size.
Mine is a little bigger: 11,2 cm instead of 10 cm.
How can I tell my printer to print it perfectly?
Or should I try to sew the shirt or whatever one size smaller?

Mirela, how can you make a garment and not cut the pattern? I would love to know!
Jul 24, 2007, 10.41 PMby pfirsch
Mirela, can you explain what you mean? I am not quite sure if I understand.
Jun 13, 2007, 03.27 PMby admin
what if the test square is a little smaller than 4"? mine is 1/16" smaller—can I still use the pieces as printed?
May 2, 2007, 03.58 PMby Mirela
Great!
Once you have all pieces of the puzzle glued together, DO NOT CUT IT, you can reuse it for another size!
Copy your size on a different paper. That way you can copy it again in a larger or smaller size, if you plan on sewing it more then once and maybe for someone else, without having to reprint it, match and glue the pieces.
