Step 5
Position and pin the closed zipper to one free side (free from the garment) of the seam allowance. When positioning, the zipper teeth should be to one side (the seam allowance side you are pinning to) of the seam and not directly in the middle of the seam. Hand baste zipper to free seam allowance close to the seam allowance edge. Helpful tip: for dresses with a side zipper, the zipper should be pinned and basted to the back seam allowance.
