Create a standard form using any kind of paper that can be pinned to the fabric piece. A form simply made on the computer does the trick. Create a form with space to write in the following: fabric name, fabric content and care instructions (you need to remember to write this down when in the store), date purchased & where, the fabric width measurement and the size of the pieces. Simply pin the filled out form to the piece of yardage before storing it away. No more having to pull out the piece and measure it to see if it works for the project you may have in mind. The information is right there in front of you. So simple.

Great tip. I do the same thing and then I take a picture and save it in a folder on my computer so I don’t have to take out the whole stash every time :)

Simple! I would leave a little space for changes/updates should one choose to use only some of the yardage rather than the whole piece at once. Thank you for this great tip!
