Burda Style For people who sew

Last Halloween I made a flamingo costume for myself and a parrot costume for my best friend. With Halloween just around the corner once more, and questions from other members about the construction of the wings, I've decided it is time to put together a tutorial!   This tutorial is awesome! I made these wings for a costume party and they were a true success! Thanks for sharing this with us. Just a tip for the feathers: as it’s quite difficult to find fabric that doesn’t fray (at least where I live), you can singe the edges of the feathers. It’s a quite simple process and the effect is amazing.

  I have JUST finished making your feathery wings for a parrot costume! My daughter is going to a fancy dress costume today. I adapted it slightly and will post some photos when I can. Thanks for posting a great pattern.

  I made some brown/white/black wings this past Halloween (I was a Robin, obviously!) The tutorial was easy to follow and, as someone who doesn’t have much experience on a sewing machine, very time consuming. Definitely worth it though. Thank you!
