    You can buy a long bodkin (I think that’s the name but not sure) which has a long piece of steel attached to a wooden handle. You use it to turn the ruleau: push it onto the bodkin and attach the end to the bodkin, then pull it out! Works a treat. Sorry my description is so bad, but it’s really worth seeking this tool out at your habby shop.
