Are you familiar with a ruffler attachment made for sewing machines? They sell these attachments now specifically for most machines and there’s also a generic version available. The ruffler creates the pleats automatically. You can choose the stitch length and whether you want the pleat to occur every stitch, every 6th stitch or every 12th stitch. I’m not looking at my attachment right now, but I think those are the options. It’s quite adjustable to how you’d like your ruffles to appear.
