Here my promised How to! I show it on the Nichola pant pattern. Always when I lower the waistband I make my own for the pant. But for the How to I used the original wasitband and I have suprisingly find out that I have not to modified the waistband. I show also how to sew the waistband on the pant. But please use my How to and the original instruction togehter. My english is not the best, but I think the pics would be helpful.

Hi Akwa! I always make my own waistband cause i thought I must enlarge it. but this time with this pattern I wanted to use the original waistband. and when I measure it I noticed thats not necessary for the nichola pattern – but maybe it´s necessary for an other pants pattern.

THANK YOU!!!! I’m short waisted and usually end up with pants in my ribs. I’m glad to see that it doesn’t change the waist band so now I can shorten the waist on the pants I bought at the thrift store. YAY!!!

Just one question: as you lower the line where the waistband sits… don’t you have to enlarge the waistband itself?

Oh, thank you so much for this howto! :-) This is just what I was looking for now for weeks. It will be really helpful to me when I start my straggle with the waistband of my summer skirt and I’m still a beginner in such projects.

In the pattern instructions you can read where the waistband ends.
You must look after:
Cut out the pattern according to your size.
i.e.:
Upper waist band edge 3/5” (1.5 cm) below the waist.
So you can measure yourself where you want to end you waistband.
Hope this helps.
