Begin with a piece of fabric, and choose whether your will be matching the thread or using a contrasting color for interest. Mark out the tuck spacing that you prefer. I have found that 1-2 inches between horizontal lines is good. If your tucks are 1/* inch, double this and add it to your measurement, for 1 1/4 - 2 1/4” If you prefer wider tucks, say 1/4” do the same, for a result of 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 inches. I have found it easiest to press my tuck edges well before I sew them. Sew in your tucks, and press towards the top of the fabric, all in one direction. Mark in your vertical stitching lines about 2-4 inches apart.
