Try the shirt on and make any necessary fit adjustments. Also, mark where you want the hem with a pin. Fold the shirt in half, lining up the sleeves to make sure it's even. You want to cut the hem 3/4" longer than where you want it to hit on your body. For best results, use a cutting mat, rotary cutter and metal ruler. If you have a curved ruler for hemming even better, the hem should curve up a little bit on the sides. You can always just cut it straight and then curve up a little on the sides.
