This is an easy way to gather fabric!! I have had my thread break on me soo I found a way to fix that!! I placed the crochet thread where I would gather at and did a wide zig zag and placed thread inbetween so it wasn't being sewn into the fabric. After you are done just pull the fabbric up the thread and evenly gather with out having to struggle or break your thread!!!!!
I had a ruffle to gather and I used my color matching thread and Crochet Thread, not yarn

This certainly looks an easier way to gather. I’ll give it a try.

The idea is to use the zig-zag stitch over a thick thread (gimp)so the thread slides under the stitch and you can pull the gimp to make a gather. For a uniform gather use as narrow a zig-zag as will just cover the gimp.
