I advise you to make the loop in between the lining or facing and the outer piece, so the knot is invisible and the bridle should be too when it holds the button.
Start by pulling out your needle from in between the two layers of fabric, and stitch back in to make a half circle (more like half oval) a bit bigger than the button width.
