Gather all of your materials. The first part of this How To covers the regular shank button and the second part uses the cover-your-own kit. The best kind of buttons for the first part of this project are ones that already have a fabric surface, so the fabric you are covering it with won’t slip. We used velvet-covered buttons and for the material used to cover the buttons we used silk organza.
