Oh NO!- That's what goes through my mind when I have to finish a curvy hem... I know I have to iron it first but, how to do it without burning my fingers??? I hope this will help!
Cardboard or and old magazine, aluminum foil, the pattern of the piece, iron, scissors, marker and tape.

My fingers are so hardened to heat after years of cooking and pressing my sewing that my first thought was that I didn’t need this method, but on inspection, this method also has the advantage of holding the heat on the fabric for longer so that the pressing will be more permanent and longer lasting. It seems even more effective than using a clapper in the traditional way. Also, I like your ideas about economy – it’s not just good for the environment to save and reuse resources, it’s good for my wallet! Very good tutorial.

That’s an ingenious, great idea but could’ve done without the environmental preachyness, sorry.

Oh wow, what a great idea, Karencilla. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this. It’s always been something I’ve had trouble with, but your idea makes it seem much more manageable.
