Set up your machine for free embroidery (you need to either lower the feed dogs or cover them with a plate depending on your machine, and fit an embroidery or darning foot and a sharp fine needle). Use a glossy machine embroidery thread in the top. Your film should be stiff enough that you don't need to put the work in an embroidery hoop. Stitch around the outlines of the motifs - you can straight-stitch around them, or add satin stitch areas such as on the edge of flower petals. The better you secure the motifs the more durable the finished fabric will be. Real Carrickmacross is incredibly delicate - your lace can be more robust!
