Many patterns require interfacing, usually to give support to an area in the garment. A fairly basic procedure, but i was unsure how to do this until i googled a lot, so i thought I'd add a how-to to Burda for anyone needing it :) This is done using the pocket piece of my hooded jumper.
Fusible interfacing, Iron, Squirter bottle, Cloth (that can withstand heat) and your Material

in my threads or other sewing magazine i read that the interface should be soaked in warm/hot water and let it sit in the water until the water becomes room temperature, then let it air dry flat. it’s a shrinking process…ie. just like you’re supposed to prewash the material before you sew, same principle with the interface.

I don’t think that you can soak fusible interfacing because it is meant to be ironed on.
I think you are thinking of non-fusible interfacing that you sew in. With that you want to make sure that it doesn’t shrink after you sewed it in (that would distort the garment), so checking if it is pre-shrunk or not is a very good idea.
But I wouldn’t wet or soak iron-on interfacing. Hope this helps.

thanks kitze :) as a beginner i didn’t understand what it was and how to do it… but i’m well aware now! and this technique works now, something went strange with it while Burda was merging the sites.

I couldn’t find it using the “search” function either. Maybe you could upload it again and remove this one if the new one works. I had a similar problem with a creation – I had to try it several times to get it work. It’s still a mystery to me why…

Did this how-to work? As far as i can tell the only way to access it is through my profile. I have tried searching it and looking in the how-to tab.. ?? :)
