There were a couple of nice patterns in the April Burda issue, amongst others Nr. 121, a wrap dress with cute cap sleeves. I already had matching striped fabric and was eager to sew it – but less than thrilled at the prospect of cutting the fabric and matching the stripes, which is why I put this project off until July. On an evening two weeks ago I finally plucked up the courage and it was – as always – not half as bad as I had expected. I had some problems with fitting Burda patterns in the past but this one was a breeze; back, waist and sleeves fit perfectly without any changes, only my bust size is a bit too large for the size 36 that I chose. If I would make this again I would probably attempt to do a full bust adjustment but in this case I just bought a pretty dark blue undershirt to wear with it. The quite revealing neckline is noticeable on of the images in the Burda issue as well, maybe I should have paid more attention to this beforehand. The fabric drapes very nice but was not easy to iron, therefore I topstitched all seams on the skirt and the collar for a more defined finish. It really paid off to brood over the pattern placement, almost all stripes match perfectly. Hopefully I will be more confident with this next time!
