Birthday fabric bought in March = skirt cut out and basted in April = procrastinate til it’s actually FALL to make your fall pheasant skirt :P

I love Japanese culture, so when I was invited fabric shopping by my bf’s mom for a birthday gift, I knew this pheasant-print quilter’s cotton was destined for a fall/winter skirt! Cuz pheasants are a fall motif, and all that.

The front is Marie, the waistband is modified from Marie’s (it’s one long piece, instead of a front and back), and the back is from a pencil skirt pattern circa 1992. The whole kaboodle is shortened by about 4 inches and the hem is my second-ever blind hem. I had some fitting issues, because it seems the top of the waistband on BOTH skirts was designed to fall at the waist, and I wanted the bottom of the waistband to fall at the waist. I had to take almost two inches out because of the extreme difference between my waist and hip measurements.
