This dress is wonderful to wear – I feel so comfy but so elegant at the same time! My dress is made with crepe-back satin from a 1935-1936 pattern out of the book “Madeleine Vionnet” by Betty Kirke (and Issey Miyake). The pattern was in small scale and had to be enlarged to full size, and boy is it big! The dress is cut from a quarter circle quadrant with small parallelogram-shaped inserts to shape the back. Much of this dress is on the bias, simple and unlined, and it gets shaped by a vintage buckle closure pulling in the front.
