My friend and ex-colleague Sandro bragged about my sewing to his wife Silje. Silje is pretty standard shaped apart from that she has very long legs, and therefore struggles to find dresses and skirts that aren’t midi instead of maxi or micro instead of mini (she’s 177cm!), so she asked me if I could make her some garments that would fit her height and I (of course) said yes!
This is the first of them which I made back in September for Silje to have it with her on her trip down to Angola.
She went fabric shopping herself and chose this romantic retro flowery viscose (I think…based on wrinkle/ironing characteristics and strange but true: smell when ironed :D) and chose Knipmode KM1608-09 pattern for it.
I improvised given Knipmode is in Dutch, and added a zipper since the pattern expects knits but our fabric is woven. The first trial revelead that I shouldn’t have lengthened the bodice and should’ve used a size smaller for the bust, so I readjusted for that and the final result does look better although not perfect (a touch too tight at the armholes). Well, lessons learned for the second dress which I just finished…:)
