This is a shift dress based on pattern #124 from the Burdastyle mag 04/2015. I shortened it because I thought it looks smarter in this length. The material is a very soft faux leather in sky blue color, with laser cut outs in flower shape. It looks like lace but is not transparent. That’s why I left off the lining, I’m wearing a Chemise underneath. The cut outs cause a good ventilation, so it doesn’t matter that it’s faux leather (no sweating). The dress has a pretty neckline, ideal for wearing a matching statement necklace, I thought. The dress was finished so quickly – and no fuzzing except some petal confetti :-)
The only problem: the flowers are not parallel at the hem, so I solved this by cutting a curved hem with the scissors. To make this accurate, I made a template first and drew the cutting line on the back side of the leather.
