I found this piece of fabric at the fabric cave for the princely sum of $1.50. It had been $3, but they were having a half price sale, so a cheap piece of fabric became pretty much free .
The skirt is incredibly simple, I just sewed up the selvage with just enough left to put in the zipper. The piece of fabric was a bit more than 1 metre wide, so I needed to narrow it in for the waistband. I wanted to keep the skirt simple, so I decided to just pull in some pleats at the sides – the front and back of the skirt still sits pretty much straight and flat, and the extra fabric expands out from the sides. This skirt also has my best ever zipper, which I’m very proud of.
