Folk Vest – Burdastyle 10/2013 #132

I found a bunch of colorful 10×10 squares of similar/series-pattern hippie-era scraps in my vintage stash, and I couldn’t chuck them as they were too groovy, so I decided to give random unmeasured patchwork a go. It was hard to get a flat plane out of it at times, but I had made enough patchwork to sew both this vest from it, and also alter an old pair of my jeans into flares (I used online tutorials). In fact the brown corduroy. metallic thread trim, and even the two wooden toggles I used, are also all originals from the same era. So if one side is too loud you can just turn it over to the muted brown side lol. I used forest green embroidery thread to square-knot some loops for securing the two toggles. Location: Manukau
