Hola burdasewers.

First of all I would like to say I’m so sorry for my english. I’m not perfect at it but I try to do my best to explain every project I make as clear as possible. My first lenguage is spanish.

Now… I would like to show you my latest project.
I’m sorry for the bad pics quality, as soon as I get a better camera I’ll change the pictures.
I swear the jacket looks amazing and people gave me great compliments about it but those pictures show a very crappy version of it… for now that’s all I have.

When I first saw the “rouche jacket” I fell inlove with it, nettevivante did an amazing job and I’m super glad she shared her project with us because otherwise I would have never been inspired and I dont think I would have taken the risk to make an amazing garment like this.

It’s late summer here so I wanted to make something that I could wear in the cold breezy summer nights and semi-cold early autumn and also at the same time I wanted something unique, more dressy and cool.

I can do patterns of many garments except jackets. I had absolutely no idea of how to draw a jacket pattern, so for a few days i searched on the net for a jacket free pattern and i was lucky enough to find this free pattern. http://m-sewing.com/patterns-catalog/women/jackets/jacket-with-button-loops.html
I thought it was perfect for the kind of jacket I wanted to make. The siluet was right and the lapel was perfect for that.
this is my first time making a jacket and It was a difficult project because it took me about 3 weeks to finish it because I gave up many times.

I used gabardine as main fabric. 1.5mt
I know gabardine fabric is such a pain in the butt if you dont own a serger, and i don’t . …so I had to used cover seem lace to finish the seams.
I’ve never done a jacket lining so I used black lace for most of it and I wanted something cute for the armholes and lapel edges so I used purple lace.
about gabardine fabric…. the zigzag scissor didn’t work much because it kept fraying over and over so I had to double sew it to have a decent finishing seams.
For the ruffles I used bistretch fabric (polyester)
and I made the neck with thin interfacing on it.

Anyway… thats all i wanted to saw… the jacket is amazing.
I went to a job interview today with it and I got the job so I think this is my lucky jacket.
it’s so warm and looks great….it is exactly what I wanted and more… and also I think making it was absolutely worth it.

edit: I just changed the pictures :D
