Until the last minute, attending the official Inaugural Ball was a not-entirely-remote possibility but so was missing out on tickets to any shindig worth attending. Dress codes ranged from dressy casual to full-on formal, so I had a helluva lot of ground to cover. In short, I needed to make something that’d blend in with a black tie crowd but wouldn’t wear like a wedding dress in a dive bar, either. And if I didn’t go to anything fancy at all, I still wanted to be able to bust out whatever I made.

This is based on a fairly heavily modified Vogue 8766, if you want to get the pattern.
