This project is based on the Burda Side Button-Up Cape 09/2015 115A. I had a really hard time finding pre-quilted insulated fabric online, and finally found this black, perforated quilted fabric on the Mood website. It’s actually made of three separate layers: a white backing, a water repellent and clear lining, and a black laser cut face.

Because of the lining, it doesn’t drape super easily, but it does give the piece a really cool sheen. I made a few adjustments: re-drew the slope of the shoulders (the original pattern made me look like a football player), added a black jersey lining, finished the inside seams with bias tape, shortened the hem by a few inches, lengthened the “sleeves” (because the weight of the fabric was creating a buckle on the arm), and attached just one snap at the top of the collar and upper chest area. Sometimes the “simplest” patterns require the most modifications ;p
