This was one of my first sewing projects in years. The pattern is Simplicity 4079. I modified it a tiny bit so that the sides are lining fabric and the back and front are patterned, to keep the flower-patterned fabric from being too overwhelming. There are a lot of pieces to this pattern, but it was very fun to make a fully lined vest—turning it right side out is like magic. I topstitched around the edges to make sure they stayed flat and nice.

I wanted to use some antique shoe buttons that I inherited from my grandmother, and I wasn’t so sure about making buttonholes on my ancient Singer. So I opted out for the time being and sewed on loops made of cord. Maybe I will add buttonholes someday…
