Folk Vest – Burdastyle 10/2013 #132

I found a bunch of colorful 10cm-sq pieces of similar/series patterned hippie-era scraps in my vintage stash, and I couldn’t chuck them as they were too groovy, so I decided to give random unmeasured patchwork a go. It was hard to get a flat plane out of it at times, but I had made enough patchwork to sew both this vest from it, and also to alter an old pair of my straight cut jeans into flares (I used online tutorials). In fact the brown corduroy remnant, scrap piece of metallic-thread trim, and even the two wooden toggles I used, are also all original from the 60s/70s years. So if one side is too loud you can just turn it over to the muted brown side lol. I used embroidery thread to square-knot some chain loops for securing the two toggles. Location: Manukau
