Well, you don’t see it that clearly, but the whole skirt is topstitched in yellow! The back panels, side seams, around the buttons and the buttonholes, and the hem.
The pattern is the one we got for free with the Runway to Reality look book. What I’ve done to it was to remove the zipper in the back, and instead have buttons down the whole center front. I also added a little patch pocket on the front left that is also topstitched in yellow :)
The fabric is the bit I had remaining after making my Overalls dress last year. It was exactly enough. I wanted to make two patch pockets at the front, but barely managed to squeeze out one.
The buttons are cool vintage pieces that I found in a bag I got from my “grandmother-in-law” with hundreds of different buttons in different colors. These particular ones are brass buttons that came off an old merchant navy uniform (They do have anchors on them :)) and even though I suck at sewing buttonholes, they turned out great!
