What pattern is this?
This is the Sewaholic Hollyburn (a personal favorite of mine as I’ve made several – link in the credits).

What pattern size did you pick?
I went with size 8 which corresponds with a 28 1/2" waist. I added 1/2" total circumference for the waist as I’m a 29" waist. This is one of those kinds of patterns that works for everyone because the only thing you need to worry about fitting is the waist.

What’s the pattern like? Give me an overview of your experience with the pattern.
This pattern is such a “sewjo” (rather than just plain old “mojo”) inducer for me. I love this pattern to death. I love the way it looks on me, the way it swishes and sways and how flattering all around it is. The pattern itself is very straight forward, expertly drafted and wonderfully easy to sew.

I fully lined this lovely in a rayon bemberg lining, used an invisible zip and separated the pocket pieces into two pieces instead of just one piece. This helped cut down on bulk and the itch from the wool.

Favorite part of the pattern? Anything you didn’t like?
My favorite part is the pockets. I just die over pockets in anything, but these pockets are the perfect pockets for a skirt like this. Your hand just slides right in and out. No need to find the pocket (like an in-seam pocket) and you can carry your car keys and a couple of dollars for a coke.

What kind of fabric did you use? Special notions or supplies?
A lovely wool crepe from my online shop (link in the credits). Wool crepe is pretty fabulous in this pattern because of the drape. And since we still have pretty cool weather here in the Spring months, it’s nice to wear this bright and cheery color with some sweater tights and a polka-dotted top!

How’s the fit?
Perfect. I personally prefer a contoured waistband for styles like this, and so I made that alteration which. Otherwise, the fit is easy since there’s fullness in the hips.

Final verdict?
This is a sewjo inducing project for me. Whenever I’m in a slump, it’s one of the TNT (tried and true) patterns that I turn to in order to get out of it. Love this pattern. HIghly recommend to anyone!
