Shorts – Burdastyle 7/2009 #113A

I tried these shorts out on a blustery winters’ day but I’ve lost weight so I had to have a belt on to keep them up lol. I never wear winter shorts actually, but I had a remnant of 70s crimson corduroy which I wanted to turn into something, and I just had enough fabric to make these. A good basic to inject some color into a winter office wardrobe perhaps; however it wasn’t so straightforward to sew, as it involved sewing details such as: a waistband, belt loops, single welt pockets (I practiced first on scrap fabric, and I ended up making one welt longer than the other lol!), and buttonholes. I really need to improve my execution of enclosures/clasps. But I do like having pockets in my garments, so that’s all good. The zip isn’t exactly invisible lol, but luckily its in red, so its not noticable. I have a feeling these shorts need to be lined due to the thick inside seams which could scruff in the wash or over time. Location: Hamilton City
