I’m not sure about anyone else, but I think lace is gorgeous but it kinda terrifies me. But earlier this year I found this piece of guipure lace in the remnant box of a local fabric store for $15 when it’s normally stupidly expensive, so I had to buy it. The piece was 40cm long and 90cm wide, so it was just the right size for a drapey top.
It looks really fancy, but was actually fairly straightforward, if time consuming as it’s entirely hand sewn. I sewed the sides together to make a tube that was straight on one end and uneven at the other where the flowers fell to different lengths. I sewed in from the sides of the straight edge, leaving room for my head and trimming out along the neckline. I then cut around large flowers on either side to make arm holes/cap sleeves. And that was it!
