My Ukrainian heritage is visible in many of my projects, but this is the first time I’ve attempted a more authentic piece.

This linen peasant blouse is reminiscent of one my babcha embroidered before she immigrated to the United States.

My mother started the embroidery this spring and I finished sewing it just in time to enter it into this contest!

The blouse is made of a thicker 100% ivory linen. Waste canvas was used to sew the embroidery. (My mom used the small 14 count packets of waste canvas found at Michaels & Joann Fabrics. She couldn’t find it by the yard.)

I used Simplicity’s vintage pattern 8704 size 16.
